Bar Camino In Walnut Creek Forced To Close For Rodent Infestation
Contra Costa Health officials inspected Bar Camino Mexican Restaurant and found rodent droppings in several areas.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A Walnut Creek restaurant was recently ordered to shut down because of a rodent infestation, according to Contra Costa County health inspection records.
Bar Camino Mexican Restaurant at 1470 N. Broadway in Walnut Creek was ordered to close Dec. 28 after a routine inspection revealed rodent droppings in several areas of the restaurant.
According to the closure order, rodent droppings were seen in the following areas:

Dry storage room
- Approximately 8-10 small droppings around oil boxes
- 3-5 droppings onto a chili container and chip containers
- Approximately 3 droppings by linens
- Approximately 5 droppings on linen towel
- 3-5 droppings on floor near entrance of dry storage room
Utensil Storage

- Approximately 10-15 droppings underneath storage rack
- 1 dropping inside utensil container with utensil
Food prep area by food prep sink
- Approximately 4 droppings at corner underneath food prep table
- 3-5 droppings on floor behind hot hold unit
- 2 droppings on cardboard of bottom shelving of food prep table
Cook line and server station
- 3 droppings on floor behind 1-door prep cooler
- Approximately 5-8 droppings on shelving with food mixer
- 5 droppings underneath rack of cup storage
Alcohol storage area
- Approximately 10 droppings by carbon dioxide cylinder and on top of soda boxes.
Closure Order
The county ordered Bar Camino to clean and sanitize all affected areas and contact pest control for servicing and increase the frequency of servicing if necessary.
The health violations appeared to be quickly corrected because the restaurant was allowed to reopen the next day, on Dec. 29.
