A Carjacking Spree Across East Bay Ends In 18 Charges Against Suspects

Two suspects in a Walnut Creek carjacking were charged today with a spate of armed robberies across the East Bay.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Two suspects in a Walnut Creek carjacking were charged today with a spate of armed robberies across the East Bay.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office filed a total of 18 felony counts against the two suspects for a spree that began on Oct. 20 in Walnut Creek, when a driver reported their work vehicle had been stolen.

The worker told police two men drove away in a grey Dodge Challenger. A short time later, an armed carjacking was reported at 1805 Ygnacio Valley Blvd. The description of the vehicle and suspects matched the Walnut Creek details.

Police received reports of armed robberies in Pittsburg, Antioch, El Sobrante that also matched the Walnut Creek suspects.

Oakland residents Julio Villalobos, 21, and Britney Zuniga, 23, were arrested Thursday.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney filed 11 felony counts for Villalobos and 7 felony counts for Zuniga, according to Walnut Creek police.
