Deadline Approaching For Walnut Creek Businesses To Apply For Grants

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Small businesses and nonprofits in Walnut Creek that incurred financial loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic have until Oct. 19 to apply for microgrants of up to $2,500.

For-profit businesses are eligible to apply if:

• They had no more than five employees in 2019, and currently have no more than five employees
• They reported gross revenue of under $50,000 in 2019
• They operated before Dec. 1, 2019, and are still in operation
• They served as the owner’s primary source of revenue
• They can demonstrate that they lost revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic
• They have not received California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant funds

Nonprofits are eligible if:

• They were operating in 2019 with $1000 to $50,000 in revenue
• They are still in operation and are registered with the California Secretary of State
• They can produce a 990 filing and registration
• They have not received California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant funds

Eligible expenses must be incurred due to the pandemic and include payroll costs, health care expenses, rent, utilities, mortgage, reopening, safety supplies, and more.
