Fire At Lime Ridge Open Space Remains Under Investigation

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA— A wildfire Monday at Lime Ridge Open Space impacted areas between Walnut Creek and Concord and burned an estimated 5-10 acres, the city of Walnut Creek confirmed Tuesday in a statement.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and CAL Fire responded to the blaze around 3:20 p.m. Monday and stopped its forward progress by 4:37 p.m.

"Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the fire, deploying multiple units to the scene," the city said. "A firefighting helicopter made several water drops, assisting in efforts to stop the blaze."

The cause of the fire was still unknown Tuesday and remained under investigation.

"We are deeply grateful to the firefighters for their rapid response and tireless efforts in protecting our community," said Rich Payne, director of Public Works for the city of Walnut Creek. "Their hard work and coordination were essential in containing the fire and preventing it from spreading further."
