WALNUT CREEK, CA—Although Labor Day marked the end of summer, the weather this week does feel much like fall.
In Walnut Creek, high temperatures are forecast to reach triple digits, and the hot-weather system is expected to peak mid-week.
A National Weather Service heat advisory has been issued for the East Bay hills, the interior valleys of the East Bay, and much of the Bay Area. The advisory is from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 11 p.m. Thursday, when temps in the 95-105 range are expected.

Weather conditions this week pose a moderate heat risk.
"This heat affects individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration," the weather service said.

Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor activities in the late afternoon and evening, stay hydrated and take cooling breaks.
"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors," weather officials said. "Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."

Residents who work or spend time outdoors are encouraged to take extra precautions and be aware of the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
"Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible," the weather service said. "To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911."
