Life Time Luxury Athletic Club, Rooftop Pool Now Open In Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Life Time, a luxury athletic country club with locations at upscale shopping centers in Scottsdale and Phoenix, as well 170 clubs at traditional sites nationwide, has finally opened its doors at Walnut Creek's Broadway Plaza.

It is the company's first shopping center-based club in California with Macerich, the company that owns and operates Broadway Plaza.

"Expanding to the San Francisco market has been a key objective and we're thrilled to bring our unique healthy way of life offering to Macerich’s beautiful Broadway Plaza and the Bay community," said Parham Javaheri, Life Time chief property development officer.

The four-level club at 1315 Broadway Plaza — along the main street of the open-air shopping plaza — features the area's first rooftop beach club on the fourth level with a six-lane lap pool, splash pad for kids, whirlpool, cabana-style seating and a poolside bistro.

"This is yet another example of Life Time playing a central role as shopping destinations evolve into holistic lifestyle centers with health, wellness, entertainment, shopping and social offerings for the entire community," Javaheri said.

The club boasts five studios and over 100 class sessions every week in cycling, barre, high-intensity, Pilates, strength training and yoga.

Here are more highlights of the 76,000-square-foot athletic club:

• An expansive fitness floor with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated space for Life Time’s exclusive Dynamic Personal Training services, stretching and group training.
• Kids Academy for children 3 months to 11 years old with specially designed, age-appropriate classes and programming
• LifeCafe, a fast-casual restaurant

Patch sent over some questions this week about the new Walnut Creek venue and here is what Life Time had to say.

Patch: How many jobs has the club brought or will it bring to the community?

Life Time: "Nearly 200."

Patch: How long did the project take to complete from when construction started to opening day on Sept. 22?

Life Time: "We started this project pre-pandemic and paused for a while. Needless to say, it’s been 2018 to now and people were ready for us!"

Patch: Do people need to be members to enjoy the amenities like the spa/salon, rooftop pool, basketball/pickleball courts, etc, or is something like a day pass offered?

Life Time: "Day Memberships are offered for $100 and can be purchased online! Here’s the link: One Day Membership - Join Life Time for a Day | Life Time. If someone purchases a day membership and chooses to join shortly after, they will be credited that amount toward their membership. And LifeSpa is open to non-members – a big MUST KNOW!"

Patch: What about parking; is there a parking garage nearby?
