Man Killed While Riding Bike In Walnut Creek Identified

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Contra Costa County Coroner's Office has identified a man struck and killed Wednesday morning while riding a bicycle in downtown Walnut Creek.
Carlos Aguilar-Reyes, 49, of Oakland, was on North Main Street near Ygnacio Valley Road, by the Target store, when he was struck by a vehicle just before 5:45 a.m.
Both streets were closed for hours while police investigated. The driver stayed on the scene and was cooperative with police.

A spokesperson for the city of Walnut Creek said police don't expect charges to be filed in the case.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Aguilar-Reyes' family and funeral expenses.
"Carlos was a hard-working and dedicated father to his two children, Diego and Keny, and a loving husband to his wife, Cristina," the page says. "His son, Diego, is currently studying at Sacramento State University, while his wife and daughter work tirelessly to support the family. The unexpected loss of Carlos has left an emotional and financial burden on them during this already difficult time.

"We are raising funds to help the Aguilar family with funeral and burial expenses. Your generosity will provide much-needed relief and support as they navigate the challenges of this heart-wrenching loss," the page said.
