Masked Man Caught Trying To Break Into Walnut Creek Home: Police

The 18-year-old was arrested a short distance away from the attempted break-in, police said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — An 18-year-old Stockton man was arrested on suspicion of an attempted residential burglary Saturday night in Walnut Creek.

A resident on Crescent Drive called police around 7:30 p.m. Saturday to report seeing a suspect wearing a mask and gloves climb over the victim's fence and into the back yard, Walnut Creek police Lt. Bruce Jower said in a news release.

A short time later, the suspect exited the back yard and left the area in a blue Chevy sedan.

Officers responded within minutes and found the blue Chevy parked on Carriage Drive.

WCPD K9 Officer Chelsea Douglass and her K9 partner Timber contacted Isaiah Taylor, 18, of Stockton, in the driver's seat of the Chevy.

"After a thorough investigation, officers determined Taylor was the suspect who climbed over the victim's fence and attempted to enter the residence," Jower said.

It is alleged that a loaded firearm was found on the front driver's seat of Taylor's car.

Taylor was arrested on suspicion of attempted residential burglary, possession of a loaded and concealed firearm in public, and possession of burglary tools.

He was booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez on $50,000 bail.
