WALNUT CREEK, CA — Olympic gold medalist Amit Elor, 20, of Walnut Creek, held back tears of joy at a meet and greet Sept. 14 at Civic Park.

Mayor Pro-tem Cindy Darling and KGO 7 News Anchor Dan Ashley were masters of ceremonies honoring Elor for her achievement in freestyle women's wrestling at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"I'd say if I'm feeling one thing right now, it's just so complete and happy," Elor said. "To believe I'm sitting here in the park that I grew up playing in with all of you guys here today. You know, we are celebrating our Olympic gold medal and it's amazing. So thank you for being here today with me."
