Walnut Creek Murder: Woman Shot Dead On Street
Police say she had been shot multiple times.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek police are still seeking a suspect in the shooting death of a woman Thursday afternoon near the Lindsay Wildlife Experience. At about 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report that a woman had been shot on the street in the 1900 block of First Avenue, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and began providing "life saving measures," but she died at the scene.
Residents near Buena Vista Avenue between San Luis and Geary roads in Walnut Creek were told to shelter in place as a search was underway. Officers had help from police K-9s and a California Highway Patrol helicopter. They cleared out of the area around 8:30 p.m., but no arrest was announced.

This is the first murder in Walnut Creek in 2017. There was one murder last year. A police spokesman told reporters that there's a murder, on average, about every other year.
