Eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road Reopens In Walnut Creek

The closure was because of downed power lines and trees, Walnut Creek police said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — UPDATE: The City of Walnut Creek announced at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday that eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road was reopened.


ORIGINAL POST: Downed power lines and trees prompted the closure early Tuesday morning of eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road east of downtown Walnut Creek, police said at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

In an update Tuesday afternoon, city officials said Walnut Creek Public Works crews continued to clear roadways where trees fell overnight. Most heavily impacted was Ygnacio Valley Road, which was still closed eastbound from Civic Drive to Tampico Place.

The city expected utility crews to continue working in the area through Wednesday.

"Avoid the area, and use Treat Blvd. as an alternate route," the city said. "Directional signs are in place to alert drivers."
