WALNUT CREEK, CA — Ah, the humble sandwich! From piled-high pastrami to ooey-gooey grilled cheese — nothing is quite as satisfying for a filling lunch. You've probably perfected your own favorites in your kitchen, but if you are looking to try a sub shop, cafe or deli, the Bay Area News Group put out a list recently of 16 restaurants to try around the Bay Area.

Several East Bay eateries made the list including Morucci’s of Walnut Creek.

"This no-frills deli in the Saranap neighborhood of Walnut Creek is famous for its sandwich board fractions (No. 6¾, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella with basil, is a top seller), long, snaking lines (especially between noon and 2 p.m.) and housemade touches, from tri-tip to pesto," the newspaper wrote. "But it’s the bread — warm, toasted Semifreddi’s ciabatta — that seems to elevate everything it hugs."
