WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek police Chief Jamie Knox seeks residents interested in applying to serve on the Chief’s Community Advisory Board.

The board is a resource for the chief. It helps improve community policing strategy, identifies best practices, and increases public awareness, engagement and transparency.

The board enhances the overall quality of life in Walnut Creek by serving as a sounding board on various issues, including mental health response, use of force, criminal activity and trends, and homelessness.

Members serve two-year terms and are encouraged to express a wide variety of the community’s viewpoints. They are expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. They must also maintain the confidentiality of some shared information and treat other members with dignity and respect.

Applications can be completed online through Dec. 14.
