Walnut Creek Police Promote Sergeant, Welcome New Officer, K9
Walnut Creek PD has a new sergeant, a new officer from a nearby force, and a new Chocolate Lab K9.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Walnut Creek Police Department recently promoted a corporal to sergeant and welcomed a new officer and K9 member.
Sgt. Jason Tricker
Walnut Creek police announced Oct. 18 that Jason Tricker was promoted to sergeant after performing exceptionally well during each phase of the rigorous promotional process.

"We are thrilled to have him as part of our leadership team," Walnut Creek PD said.
Tricker has been with the department since 2014 after serving with another law enforcement agency and brings over 13 years of law enforcement experience to his new rank.

He has served as a defensive tactics instructor and field training officer, and he is a member of the drone team and the department's recruiting team.
Tricker was selected for the rank of corporal in 2020 and became detective corporal in 2022.
He graduated from the Inner Perspectives leadership program earlier this year.
According to Walnut Creek PD, Tricker will soon be assigned to lead one of the department's patrol teams.
Officer Stefan Overton
The Walnut Creek Police Department welcomed its newest officer to the force.
Officer Stefan Overton was administered the oath of office Oct. 14 in front of his wife, family and several members of the police department.
He comes to Walnut Creek from the San Leandro Police Department, where he served for six years.
K9 Lucky
The newest K9 member of the Walnut Creek Police Department, K9 Lucky, was introduced Oct. 10.
Lucky will specialize in finding explosives as a part of the department's Bomb Squad. Residents will also see her around town on patrol with K9 Officer Dehl.
"Lucky, just like most of our Bomb Squad equipment, was paid for using federal grant funding and will be a great addition to our department," Walnut Creek PD said.
