Walnut Creek Recruits For Commission Vacancies
Applicants for the city's Design Review Commission and Board of Appeals must be registered voters but need not be residents of Walnut Creek.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — The city of Walnut Creek announced vacancies this week on its Design Review Commission and Board of Appeals and encouraged civic-minded residents to consider putting in their applications.
Advisory commissions serve an important role and give people a first-hand perspective and involvement in shaping Walnut Creek's future, city officials said.
The openings fill three-year terms ending Feb. 28, 2028. Applicants for the two roles must be registered voters, but residence within the city is not required.

Design Review Commission
This commission reviews and makes recommendations to the city's Planning Commission on applications for design review and takes action on applications for sign permits and/or master sign programs when such applications are not included with the application for design review. It also makes recommendations to the City Council and Planning Commission on policies for designs of buildings, signs and other structures within the city.
The person selected to fill this vacancy on the Design Review Commission must be a registered architect.

Board Of Appeals
An alternate member is needed for the Board of Appeals, which hears and decides on appeals of notices, orders, decisions or determinations made by the city's building official. Applicants should be qualified in building construction with specific knowledge of California building standards and applicable local ordinances.
Important Dates
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24.
The City Council will select applicants on March 4 to invite to interviews. Following the interviews, which are set for March 18, the City Council is expected to make the appointments.
