An open house is planned next week where community members can have a say in the design of new facilities coming to Heather Farm Park.

This is the conceptual site plan accepted by the Walnut Creek City Council on Feb. 7, 2023. It will be used as the guiding document for the development of more detailed design plans for the new aquatic and community center at Heather Farm Park.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek residents are invited to an open house next week where they can provide input on the design of the New Aquatic and Community Center at Heather Farm Park.

The project will occupy the site where the existing Heather Farm Park Community Center is located, replacing the facilities built in the 1970s. It is being funded primarily by the Walnut Creek voter-approved Measure O sales tax, with support from the Walnut Creek Aquatic Foundation.

Stop by the open house any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, for a night of creativity, fun and community engagement.

Several design stations will be set up, giving residents a chance to have their say in the design of the new facility and the recreational pool amenities.

There will also be a kid zone where youth can create illustrations of their dream pool. Plus, pizza will be provided.

Project Timeline

The design phase of the project is anticipated to be completed by summer 2025. Then the construction phase is a two-year process, from summer 2025 through summer 2027.

As currently envisioned, the existing Community Center will be demolished for the new combined facility to be built, while Clarke Swim Center is projected to remain open to the public throughout the construction period.
