Earthquake Rattles Northern California

An earthquake was felt about 25 miles southeast of Monterey.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA -- A 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the Monterey Bay area on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was felt about 25 miles southeast of Monterey around 11:30 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. No tsunami has been issued for the coastline.

The quake was felt as far away as Salinas, Hollister and Gilroy. No injuries were reported as a result of today's quake.
