• Police urge caution as mountain lion sighted in Watsonville (santacruzsentinel.com) — A mountain lion was spotted Wednesday morning behind a Main Street shopping plaza in Watsonville, prompting police to warn residents to be extra cautious, especially with pets and children outdoors. Authorities say the cat was last seen heading toward Harkins Slough Road and shared detailed tips on what to do if you encounter a mountain lion in town or nearby open areas.
   

• San Benito County to receives over $7m from Department of Transportation (benitolink.com) — Watsonville is set to receive $560,000 in federal transportation funds to pilot speed safety cameras and radar feedback signs aimed at slowing drivers and improving local street safety. The grant is part of more than $8.6 million coming to California’s 18th District, including major corridor upgrades in San Benito County and school-area safety improvements in Morgan Hill.
   

• Updated battery storage ordinance unveiled ahead of Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors meeting (santacruzsentinel.com) — Santa Cruz County is rolling out an updated battery storage ordinance that will shape a proposed energy project on Minto Road just outside Watsonville. Supervisors pushed for stronger safety, environmental review, and attention to concerns raised by the city of Watsonville before the rules return for public discussion next week in Scotts Valley.
