A family acquaintance who allegedly sexually abused an 8-year-old girl and videotaped the molestation was arrested earlier this week, according to Watsonville police.
Jonathan Cash, 20, was arrested after the girl's family came to the police station on Saturday to report the alleged abuse, police said. The girl had told relatives that Cash, who she knew, had been molesting her.
Detectives caught up to Cash at the Northridge Mall in Salinas. Police reported they found evidence on his computer that substantiated the girl's claims and that Cash implicated himself in the crimes.
Cash, who has ties to both Watsonville and Salinas, was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail, police said.
