Sam Farr's Seat Cost over $730K

Rep. Sam Farr, whose 20th District includes Watsonville, easily won re-election last fall.

But how much did his House seat cost him?

Campaigns cost money—most of the time lots of it. In terms of dollars and cents, Farr raised $735,679 during the 2012 election cycle, according to MapLight, a non-profit that tracks money in politics.

That figure is quite low: the average House member raised $1,689,580, or $2,315 a day, according to MapLight.
