Second Saturdays On The Farm

The Agricultural History Project is kicking off Second Saturdays On The Farm on June 8, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, Highway 152 outside Watsonville. 

This event is FREE!  Donations are appreciated. Second Saturdays On The Farm are going to be every month with a different emphasis on some part of the farming experience and explore the history as well as have activities for kids and adults related to each topic.

June will feature Dairy on the Farm with ice cream making, butter churning, cheese making, a REAL COW, some GOATS and all kinds of talks and demonstrations.  They're including topics on yogurt, milking, types of cows, the history of dairy in the Monterey Bay Region, and how 'Jack' cheese got it's name from right around here!  You'll be able to watch milking equipment in action and learn what happens to get milk to your kitchen.
