Update: West Valley Burglary Leads to Police Chase, Sepulveda Closure

The pursuit went from the southbound 101 Freeway to the southbound 405; Sepulveda Boulevard is closed near the area.

Updated: 5 p.m.   Police on Tuesday arrested three burglary suspects after pursuing them through the Valley to the Sepulveda Pass area, where the suspects abondoned their vehicle on the Sepulveda Pass near the Skirball Center.

The pursuit began about 2 p.m. in the 23000 of Elkwood Street in an area between Canoga Park and Chatsworth, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

French said he didn't know the circumstances of the burglary.

Police began following the car on the Ventura (101) Freeway, and the
driver went south on the San Diego (405) Freeway before getting stuck in traffic near the Skirball Center. The car traveled at speeds up to 90 mph, and may have also been involved in a collision with a gray van along the way.

The suspects' vehicle wound up trapped in heavy traffic, prompting them to jump out of the vehicle and run into the trees and brush alongside Sepulveda Boulevard.

Police closed Sepulveda Boulevard in the Skirball area and traffic was slow on the 405 Freeway.
