Restaurant to Host Fundraiser for Accident Victims

The owner of a Woodland Hills restaurant is hosting a fundraiser to benefit two girls who were injured in a car accident near the intersection of Califa Street and Oso Avenue last week.

The girls, 11 and 13, were hurt when a small SUV being driven by their father flipped onto its side and slammed into a parked pickup truck. Witnesses said the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and flipped on its side when swerving to avoid a car that was rightfully in the intersection, police reported.

According to a statement issued Monday by the Topanga Community Police station, the girls are still in critical condition at a local hospital. The girls' mother, who was a passenger in the SUV, and father both died in the accident.

An article appearing in the Daily News Monday named the mother as Leila Milon, 45, of the 20400 block of West Califa Street. Police are withholding her husband's name until his parents, who are in Iran, can be notified, the Daily News reported.

The fundraiser, which will take place at Safir Mediterranean Restaurant from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, will help pay for the girls' medical treatment, according to the Topanga station statment. The restaurant is at 19942 Ventura Blvd.
