A man was killed and four people were critically injured tonight when an SUV plowed through a doughnut shop in a Canoga Park strip mall, a fire department official said.

The crash occurred at 9:32 p.m. at the shop at 8300 DeSoto Ave., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
An adult male was pronounced dead at the scene, Scott said. Four people including the driver of the SUV were transported to a hospital in critical condition.
