Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Watch for Woodland Hills

Expect temperatures in the 100s by the end of the week.

The National Weather Service is predicting more hot days ahead and has issued an excessive heat watch for June 29 through July 1.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 98 degrees Thursday and 100 degrees Friday, jumping to 105 for both days of the weekend.

The high temperatures are the result of a strong upper level ridge of high pressure that will build over Southern California, the Weather Service said. The air mass will start out relatively dry with the heat wave but some moisture may be pulled into the region by Sunday or Monday.

Children, the elderly and people with chronic ailments are the most susceptible to heat-related illness, the Weather Service warns. It recommends drinking plenty of fluids and staying out of the sun and in air-conditioned rooms.
