• Groundbreaking Held for Merriment Village Affordable Housing Community (territorialdispatch.com) — A major new affordable housing community is breaking ground at 428 N. Walton Ave. in north Yuba City, bringing 217 units in multiple phases, with the first 79 homes focused on seniors, veterans, and cost-burdened families. Backed by Habitat for Humanity Yuba-Sutter, the City of Yuba City, and Sutter County leaders, Merriment Village will include shared amenities and long-term housing options for low-income residents.
   

• Sutter County Taxpayers Foot Bill for Old Rehab Loans (territorialdispatch.com) — Sutter County taxpayers are on the hook for nearly $235,000 after supervisors voted in Yuba City to write off 13 long-delinquent housing rehab loans, some dating back to 1993. Officials say the move, though frustrating, is required to clear an audit issue and regain eligibility for up to $3.6 million in future state housing and infrastructure grants.
   

• Yuba-Sutter Food Bank Reports Sharp Rise in Demand (territorialdispatch.com) — Rising food insecurity is pushing record numbers of Yuba-Sutter residents to the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, which now serves up to 40,000 people a month. After SNAP delays, the group rushed out an emergency distribution and is launching an “airmen’s market” at Beale Air Force Base, backed in part by a $15,000 contribution from the City of Yuba City.
