Arvada Holiday Tree Knocked Over By High Winds

The City of Arvada reported that almost 80 mph have toppled over the tree in Olde Town Square, and the square is closed to visitors.

ARVADA, CO — The holiday tree in Arvada’s Olde Town Square has fallen due to high winds, the city reported in a tweet.

The city said teams are securing the area, and the Arvada Press reported that Olde Town Square is closed to visitors, although businesses are open, according to Olde Town Business Improvement District Executive Director Joe Hengstler.

Winds of 76 miles an hour are currently whipping through Arvada, according to the National Weather Service. Roughly 44 outages are still affecting 1846 customers in the city, according to an Xcel Energy online map. Nearly 40,000 customers around Denver are without power, according to Xcel.
