Fundraiser Launches For Military's 'Christmas Card Grandma'
Marlys Halbeisen has sent more than 100,000 cards to military members in honor of her late husband, but her tradition may end without funds.

WHEAT RIDGE, CO — Over the past few years, thousands of overseas military members have received Christmas cards from a loving, ambitious Coloradan, known as the 'Wheat Ridge Christmas Card Grandma.'
Marlys Halbeisen, 80, has sent more than 100,000 cards in honor of her late husband, who served in the Korean War.
But the tradition may end without proper funding, she said.

"This unfortunately will be my last year for my Christmas Cards for the military as I just can't keep this going on my own any longer due to costs," Halbeisen said.
"I truly hope someone else might be inspired by the work I have done and keep this movement alive but I sadly I can no longer continue."

Halbeisen started a fundraiser to help pay the shipping costs of the 38,000 cards she sent out for this Christmas.
"The biggest thanks I have to say is to our brave service men and women who are our the true HEROS past and present! Thank you all & God bless," Halbeisen said.
