Teen Back In Custody After Stabbing Guard, Escaping: Sheriff
A 17-year-old stabbed a guard and escaped before he was caught, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A shelter-in-place order ended for the Lakeside area Tuesday after a teenager who escaped custody was found, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.
A 17-year-old stabbed a guard during a dental visit in Lakeside and escaped, officials said in a tweet posted at 9:47 a.m. The teen was found later in the day near 43rd and Eaton, the sheriff's office said in a tweet posted at 1:52 p.m.
The 17-year-old is back in custody at the Platte Valley Youth facility, officials said.

The stabbing occurred in the 5800 block of West 44th Avenue, the sheriff's office said. Many deputies and patrol cars were seen in the area, and officers were conducting yard searches before the teen was found.
The guard — a correctional officer with the youth facility — did not suffer injuries that were life-threatening, the sheriff's office said. He's set to be released from a local hospital Tuesday.

Police agencies from Edgewater, Denver, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge assisted in the search, officials said.
