Winter Storm Warning Issued For Metro Denver, El Paso County

The National Weather Service warned of heavy snowfall and "hazardous weather conditions" across most of Colorado.

ARVADA, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of the state, including Jefferson and El Paso Counties. The advisory will be in place from 5 p.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday.

Seven to 11 inches of snow are expected to fall over the Denver area, the alert said. Four to eight inches are anticipated in El Paso County, with wind chills of 15 degrees below zero.

"The expected snowfall and cold temperatures will lead to deteriorating travel conditions through the later portions of the Tuesday evening commute," the alert said, "with very hazardous travel conditions expected for the Wednesday morning commute across all of south-central and southeast Colorado."

Heavy snowfall and "hazardous weather conditions" are expected across the state. A full list of impacted areas can be found here.

"Consider altering your travel plans. Heavy snowfall is expected to make travel very difficult to impossible," the alert said. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."
