Boulder County Coronavirus Update: Vaccinations, Cases, Mandate

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Over the past week, more than 700 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Boulder County, according to the latest public health data.

More than 238,000 Boulder County residents — or 82 percent of the eligible population — have received at least one dose of their vaccine, according to Boulder County Public Health. Around 222,000 residents — 77 percent of the county — are fully inoculated.

As of Tuesday, 27,041 people in the county had tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. The death toll has reached 267 after two deaths were reported over the past week.

Nearly all new cases in Colorado are the Delta variant, state public health officials said.

Around 917 people have been hospitalized in Boulder County since the outbreak began, and 18 new hospitalizations were reported over the past week.

Boulder County reinstated its indoor mask mandate Friday — everyone ages 2 and older is required to wear masks in indoor public spaces.

People who are immunocompromised can get their third vaccine doses in all clinics that offer Pfizer and Moderna in Boulder County, public health officials announced last week.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends people whose immune systems are moderately to severely compromised receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after their second dose.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration fully approved the Pfizer-BiNTech's coronavirus vaccine Aug. 23 for people ages 16 and older.
