Climber Dies, Another Injured In Eldorado Canyon State Park

Two people fell from the Wind Tower in Eldorado Canyon State Park, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A climber died and another was seriously injured after they fell in Eldorado Canyon State Park on Thursday, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

Rescuers were called to the Wind Tower route in the park at 5:41 p.m. after the two men fell around 150 to 200 feet, authorities said.

Bystanders who witnessed the fall had a rope ready for rescuers and helped them get to the men. One of the climbers who fell, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at 6:11 p.m., the sheriff's office said.

The second climber, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was flown by a MedEvac helicopter to a trauma center in Denver, authorities said. As of Friday morning, his condition was not known.

Detectives from the sheriff's office and investigators from the Boulder County Coroner's Office were called to the area.

"The death investigation is on-going," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "At this time, foul play is not suspected."

The identity of the man who died has not been released.
