Firefighters To Shave Heads In Broomfield For Childhood Cancer
A St. Baldrick's event is being sponsored by North Metro Fire Rescue and The Old Man bar and grill in Broomfield.
BROOMFIELD, CO – Firefighters from North Metro Fire Rescue are prepared to wear beanies for the rest of the winter after shaving their heads in solidarity with children's cancer patients on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
The St. Baldrick's Head Shaving event will be held at The Old Man, 4381 W. 120th Ave. in Broomfield. The yearly event raises funds for childhood cancer research grants through volunteer-powered events.
After "braving the shave" in Denver for many years, the Local 2203 firefighters union at North Metro decided to start their own tradition in 2014. Since then, the north area event has raised more than $85,000 for the foundation, NMFR said.

"It is an honor to be able to coordinate this year's event with North Metro Fire and with the support of IAFF Local 2203," NMFR Firefighter and longtime event coordinator Loren Schuessler said in a press release. "The event is always exciting, and it is a pleasure to meet the children and adult survivors who have been helped by the foundation. Seeing where the money goes makes it a very special event."
The Old Man will partner with the fire district for the first time. The bar and grill is donating 20 percent of all food and non-alcoholic beverage sales, according to a statement.
