League Of Women Voters Seeks Broomfield Participants

The influence of Dark Money in Politics and voter suppression will be discussed at a free Northglenn panel next week.

BROOMFIELD, CO – Broomfield has no chapter of the League of Women Voters, but the league is reaching out to Broomfield residents to invite them to attend nearby events for the Adams County League of Women Voters.

On Monday, March 11 at 6:30 pm., the Adams County branch will present a free panel discussion, Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy, at Community Reach Center, 11285 Highline Drive in Northglenn.

"In recent years, several states have made it harder for US citizens to vote, including North Dakota which now requires voters to have street addresses while many First Americans on reservations typically do not have street addresses," a press release said. The panel will discuss how the League of Women Voters of North Carolina is suing their state over its gerrymandered districts.

The event will also discuss the influence of Dark Money in U.S. elections since the US Supreme Court decided in Citizens United that "corporate money equals speech," a statement said.

“Elections should be about the voters not big money interests,” says the LWV of the United States (lwv.org). “It’s time to limit SuperPACs and secret donors to protect representative democracy.”
