Coors Celebrates Avalanche With Beer Brewed Using Ball Arena Ice
Coors Light Championship Ice will be available on tap at 11 local bars beginning Thursday. Coors insists the brewing process is sanitary.

DENVER, CO —The Stanley Cup-winning Colorado Avalanche will hold their championship rally and parade on Thursday morning in Denver. That same day, fans will have their first chance to pick up a rather unique souvenir commemorating the team's first title in 21 years.
Coors has announced it has created Coors Light Championship Ice, a limited-edition beer brewed with ice shavings from the rink at Ball Arena, home of the Avs.
"Colorado brought home the cup, and now we're filling yours with Champions Ice," Coors said in a statement.

A company spokesman told the Denver Post that Coors brewers scraped the ice from Ball Arena early in the Stanley Cup Finals, "so Coors Light Champions Ice is made with ice where the Avalanche won." Though, of course, the Avalanche clinched the series over the Lightning Sunday night in Tampa.
"Coors Light was born in the Rockies and we are an official partner of the Colorado Avalanche," a Coors spokesman told The Denver Post. "And since we're really good at making ice-cold beer, we tapped our brewers to craft Coors Light made with the actual ice the hockey final was played on."

A video posted on YouTube shows the process of collecting the ice and brewing the limited-edition beverage.
The company also told the Denver Post that the use of the ice is completely sanitary because the ice was filtered using reverse osmosis membrane ultrafiltration technology.
Coors said that beginning Thursday, the beer will be available on tap "in very limited supply" at 11 Denver bars, many near the championship parade route.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Union Station, 17th Street and Wynkoop Street. The route runs down 17th Street to Broadway and then south to Civic Center Park.
The beer will be available at:
- ViewHouse Ballpark, 2015 Market St.
- Sports Column, 1930 Blake St.
- Hayter's, 1920 Blake St.
- Swanky's Vittles and Libations, 1938 Blake St.
