Here Are The 10 Healthiest Real Estate Markets In Colorado

Here are the markets where homes are affordable, but also sell quickly in the state, according to a study. Is your neighborhood on the list?

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO -- Real estate sale prices in Colorado are booming, but does that mean they always will be? According to a new study from a financial tech company, the best place to buy a home is in a neighborhood that is both affordable and easy to sell from.

SmartAsset released their fourth Healthiest Housing Markets study, using data from the US Census Bureau 2016 5-Year American Community Survey, and Zillow.

In Colorado, Ken Caryl, in unincorporated Jefferson County is ranked as the healthiest housing market, according to the study.

The other healthiest markets were:

  • No. 2 Wheat Ridge
  • No. 3 Centennial
  • No. 4. Arvada
  • No. 5 Highlands Ranch

The study considered considered the following four factors: stability, affordability, fluidity and risk of loss.

Ken Caryl had the lowest percentage of underwater mortgages (2.9 percent) and only 2.1 percent of homes were determined to be losing value, according to the study. Median mortgage payments added up to only 20.3 percent of median incomes and homes for sale stayed on the market an average of 18 days.

Of course, this data is from 2016, so things may have changed.
