6 People Hospitalized After Explosion In Littleton Home

An explosion and fire were reported inside a home Sunday near South Broadway and Orchard Road, South Metro Fire Rescue said.

LITTLETON, CO — Six people were hospitalized Sunday after a house fire in Littleton, South Metro Fire Rescue said. All are in stable condition, according to fire officials.

People who were inside the home reported an explosion that knocked out the windows, according to South Metro Fire.

Crews found the fire in the basement of the home and were ventilating the house. They used thermal imaging cameras to monitor the heat and smoke coming from the basement.

Investigators were unable to determine the exact ignition source, but they have confirmed there was a gas leak in the home before the explosion, officials said.

The southbound lanes of Broadway were closed near Orchard Road while the investigation was underway.
