Accident Kills 2 After High Speed Chase Of Stolen Car

A busy Littleton intersection was blocked after a woman chased by Douglas County sheriff's officers t-boned a car, killing two people.

LITTLETON, CO – A woman driving a stolen car out of Aurora was chased by patrol deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office early Wednesday morning and struck another car, killing two people, the sheriff's office said.

The intersection of Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue in Littleton was closed during the busy morning rush hour to investigate the crash. RTD service at Santa Fe and Mineral was also closed.

The incident began around 2:10 a.m., when DCSO deputies tried to stop a speeding car traveling northbound on Highway 85 at Daniels Park Road. The driver sped away from officers, at times crossing into the southbound lanes of Hwy 85. At 2:17, the driver t-boned another vehicle traveling westbound on Mineral Avenue, killing two people in the car, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

The woman driver was taken into custody. Police did not release her name or the name of the two people who were killed in the accident.

DCSO said there was another car involved, but the driver got away. The car, which had been stolen from Castle Pines, was located later.

Investigators are asking if anyone in the public witnessed the pursuit or subsequent crash to notify the DCSO at 303-660-7579.
