Blizzard Help: Polis Activates 50 Colo. National Guard Soldiers
Colorado Governor Jared Polis has activated the Colorado National Guard to support potential rescues during a second "bomb cyclone."

CENTENNIAL, CO - Colorado Governor Jared Polis once again activated the Colorado National Guard to help save any stranded motorists in Colorado during the second bomb cyclone to hit the state during 2019.
About 50 soldiers spread out along the Front Range, a statement from the agency said.
This winter storm is called "Stanley." It was during the first bomb-cyclone on March 13 – darn you "Ullmer"– that 100-car pileups on I-25 left passengers freezing in their cars with no way to roll away.

"The Colorado National Guard can get anywhere where we're needed with our tracked and high-wheeled vehicles," said Col. Scott Sherman in a statement. "The CONG is always ready, always there to assist our neighbors to save lives, prevent suffering, and mitigate great property damage."
This time, rescue teams are "prepositioning" at locations from Longmont to Colorado Springs. About 24 vehicles, including Light Medium Tactical Vehicles, Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks, and Small Unit Support vehicles are on-hand for this blizzard response.
