ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO — Denver Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy was arrested Thursday in Arapahoe County and is being charged with criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office arrested Jeudy without incident around noon, and he was booked into Arapahoe County Detention Center.

Jeudy is being held without bond, according to authorities. He has a court appearance scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Arapahoe County jail records.

Authorities received a call around 10:15 a.m. from a woman and learned that Jeudy had control of property that belonged to the woman, Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown said at a news conference.

The woman reported Jeudy locked her wallet and their 1-month-old child's medical papers in his car and would not give her access, Brown said.

There was no physical contact between Jeudy and the woman, but the domestic violence enhancer was included in the charges because the two have a child, Brown said. No property was damaged.

Second degree criminal tampering is considered "tampering with property of another with intent to cause injury, inconvenience, or annoyance to that person," and can carry a sentence of up to 120 days in jail and a $750 fine, according to the Colorado Revised Statutes.

The domestic violence enhancer dictates that Jeudy must see a judge before he is released from custody. It also could result in stricter penalties if Jeudy is convicted.

"We are aware of the matter involving Jerry Jeudy and are in the process of gathering more information," the Broncos said in a statement.

The Broncos selected Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Jeudy has 90 receptions for 1,323 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons, but he missed six games in 2021 with a high ankle sprain.

Buzz is high for Jeudy and the Broncos offense ahead of the 2022 season after Denver traded for Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson in March. The Broncos sent five draft picks — first-, second- and fifth-rounders in 2022 and a first- and second-rounder in 2023 — as well as quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Wilson and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
