Douglas COUNTY, CO — A 30-year-old man convicted of forgery and sex trafficking will serve 304 years in prison, a Douglas County jury decided last week.

In a news release, Douglas County District Courts announced Chauncey Price was found guilty in December on 13 counts, including human trafficking for sexual servitude and pandering a child.

His sentence was handed down last week after a trial, in which three victims testified, saying he forced them to have sex with strangers in exchange for money he then turned over to them.

A victim's statement was read during the trial:

“Chauncey promised to take care of me. At first he paid for my drug habit and food and let me stay for free. But nothing is free. … He threatened to kill my sister if I didn’t work for him – that is when he turned me out. He kept pushing me to sleep with more and more men, up to eight a day. …
“I couldn’t even use the bathroom without someone watching me. Once I didn’t eat for 3 days,” the victim wrote in describing the humiliation, subjugation, pain and terror she lived through while Price prostituted her.
“I want to make it clear that I came forward to save others from him … He exploited young girls, controlled them and manipulated them. He will continue to do that if he ever gets out.”

The court said the sentences were lengthened because Price is known to be a habitual offender with four previous felony convictions under his belt.

He will serve consecutive sentences for each victim, said prosecutor and Senior Deputy District Attorney Kelly Dziedzic.

“Any reasonable good person would have looked at these victims and would have extended sympathy or empathy, but Price only looked at them and saw opportunity,” Dziedzic said. “His victims will live with the repercussions of his actions for the rest of their lives. They have a lifelong struggle ahead of them.”

The release states Price was involved in a criminal ring that also produced counterfeit money and used its victims to move the currency at businesses across Colorado. Two other defendants were sentenced for forgery for involvement in the ring.

The longest sentence ever handed down for a human trafficker was in Arapahoe County District Court in November 2017. The release states Brock Franklin, the leader of a trafficking ring, was sentenced to serve 472 years to live in prison. The sentence was later changed to 400 years after the court discovered a miscalculation.
