Coronavirus Case Rates Down In Arapahoe County

The county was set to lose its variance, but coronavirus cases are "headed in the right direction," officials announced.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO — Arapahoe County has seen a drop in coronavirus case rates, public health data shows. Around 96 percent of residents in the county have been wearing masks, according to public health officials.

"Thanks to your dedication to wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and washing your hands, our positive COVID case numbers are headed in the right direction—down!" the county announced in a news release.

Earlier this month, the state granted Arapahoe County an extension for its variance, which was set to be revoked if high case rates continued. A variance is a leniency granted to businesses and churches that eases restrictions if the county proves that cases are under a certain level.

If Arapahoe County loses its variance, some businesses would be forced to scale back their services, and others may have to close.
