Disabled Father Was 'Ambushed' And Killed: Arapahoe Co. Sheriff

Arapahoe County Sheriff's investigators are searching for information about the shooting death of Mark Davis, 48, father of six.

ENGLEWOOD, CO –Arapahoe County sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help to identify the person or persons who allegedly ambushed and shot a 48-year-old man outside an apartment complex near Englewood in January.

Mark Davis was a disabled father-of-six who was found dead of gunshot wounds in the early morning of Jan. 18 outside the Centennial East apartments in the 14400 block of East Fremont Avenue.

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Kal Gatchis said Davis walked with cane and had severe arthritis in his back and neck, along with other medical issues. Davis was attacked and shot multiple times as he walked to the bus stop, Gatchis said.

"He had no known enemies and appeared to be a quiet man that basically kept to himself."

Davis was not robbed before being shot, authorities said.

Davis is survived by his six children, his wife and his parents.

Investigators have "exhausted all leads" Gatchis said, and she asked the public to get in touch if they saw anything unusual.

Gatchis also said the Arapahoe County Sheriff's office is beefing up patrols in marked and unmarked cars in the neighborhood. Sheriff's deputies have canvassed the entire apartment complex, Gatchis said, and the surrounding neighborhood, and haven't been able to find any leads on suspects.

“It’s just not right. We need to find out who did this and I’m asking the public for assistance,” Gatchis said.

Tipsters can earn a reward of up to $2,000 with information leading to the arrest of a suspect or suspects in the homicide. Call Metro Denver CrimeStoppers (720-913-7867) or the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office (720-874-8477).
