Douglas County Sergeant Dies By Suicide: Sheriff
The agency is not yet naming the sergeant, who died May 2, and served for 21 years.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – The Douglas County Sheriff's office announced Friday that a sergeant with the agency died by suicide the evening of May 2.
"It is with a sad and heavy heart that the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office expresses a profound loss as one of our own died by suicide..." the office said in a statement. "We lost a Sergeant and a friend who honorably served both his country and our community for over 21 years."
The name of the sergeant was not released, "out of respect for the family and during our initial stages of mourning," a press release from the agency said.

The agency said that more information would be shared, "as the circumstances of this tragic loss come to light and services are planned."
