Littleton City Attorney Resigns After Being Put On Leave
Stephen Kemp will receive a severance payment of half of his $184,800 salary, the city said.

LITTLETON, CO – Littleton City Attorney Stephen Kemp resigned at the city council's Feb. 26 meeting, after being placed on administrative leave earlier in the month. Kemp will be paid a severance equivalent to six months’ of his $184,800 salary per his employment contract, a statement from the city said.
Ken Fellman from the law firm Kissinger & Fellman has been acting as interim city attorney since being appointed by the city council on Feb. 12. Fellman will continue in this capacity until a new city attorney is selected. The council will review options for recruiting to fill the vacancy at an upcoming study session.
City officials were tight-lipped about the reasons for Kemp being put on administrative leave Feb. 8, citing "personnel issues," according to the Littleton Independent.

“I'm not happy about [putting Kemp on leave],” Mayor Debbie Brinkman told the Independent two weeks ago. “We're on such a great roll and this is something we would definitely rather not deal with. Hopefully it won't disrupt us."
Kemp was hired as Littleton's city attorney in April 2017. Originally from Peoria, Arizona, Kemp was the fifth attorney hired by the city in six years, according to media reports.
