Littleton Educator Lured HS Student to Home: Police
An arrest affidavit alleges middle school administrator Mike Pate, 38, asked a high school boy to help him move a couch then gave him beer.

LITTLETON, CO – More details emerged Tuesday about the arrest of a former Jefferson County School District administrator arrested last week who is facing charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor by providing alcohol to an underage person, a Class 4 felony.
Michael Shey Pate, 38, resigned from his position as assistant principal of Carmody Middle School, 2050 S Kipling St. in Denver after being arrested Mar. 1 around 8 a.m. at his home in Littleton.
A police affidavit, obtained by Denver7, said the older brother of a male Dakota Ridge High School student called police on Feb. 7 and reported a possible sexual assault of his brother.

Pate had asked the younger brother to come to his home and help move a couch for $20, the arrest affidavit said. Both boys had met Pate when he was a former assistant director of Outdoor Labs, a sixth grade week-long outdoor program, police said. At that point, Pate had confided in the boy that he was gay.
The boy told police Pate had sent "sexually suggestive text messages" to him in the past but he had not taken them seriously, Denver 7 reported.

On the day of the report, the teen told police Pate had offered the teen beer from the refrigerator and had drunk two beers on the porch with Pate.
According to Denver7:
The conversation turned "awkward" when Pate told him the kids at work are “stupid” and that he was “going to do something stupid,” the teen said. He said Pate pointed to his crotch and, uncomfortable with the situation, the teenager said he was only there for the money and to help him move. The teen then left the home.
Police are asking for witnesses to come forward if they know about any other inappropriate activity with underage children. Anyone with additional information regarding this case can contact Detective Pinover of the Littleton Police Department, at 303-795-3713.
