Littleton Police Accreditation: Public Call-In Session Tuesday

One of the nation's top law enforcement accreditation organizations is set to examine all aspects of how the police department is run.

LITTLETON, CO — The Littleton Police Department is seeking accreditation from an organization that recognizes law enforcement excellence, and a public call-in session is set to be hosted Tuesday as part of the process.

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, known as CALEA, will examine the Littleton Police Department's procedures, policies, operations and support services.

As part of the assessment, the public is invited to comment at a call-in session from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday. The number to call to speak with a CALEA Assessor is 303-795-3723. The public can also comment in-person the same day from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the Littleton Center, 2255 West Berry Avenue.

The police department will be accredited if it meets the commission's standards. Local accredited agencies include the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol and the Parker Police Department. Remaining accredited requires ongoing monitoring — the Littleton Police Department was accredited in 2006 but did not keep up with the process.
