Suspect At Large After Shootout In Greenwood Village: Police

Two men were involved in a shootout with employees at an auto parts store after they were caught shoplifting, Greenwood Village police said.

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO — Police are searching for a suspect who's wanted in connection with a shootout in Greenwood Village.

Officers were called to the Havana Auto Parts store, at 9640 E. Arapahoe Road, at 8:51 a.m. Thursday after reports of shoplifting and shots fired, police said.

Two men went into the store and shoplifted items, according to the Greenwood Village Police Department. Two employees confronted the men in the parking lot and after a struggle, one of the suspects pulled out a gun, police said.

One of the employees also pulled out a gun and shot at the suspect, injuring him, according to authorities.

The injured suspect was taken into custody and hospitalized, but the second suspect remains at large, police said. He was last seen driving a 2020 black Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk with Colorado rental plate VOA-039.

No further details about the incident were released. An investigation was underway.
