Tranquilized Bear Falls Into Tarp During Lone Tree Rescue

A bear found in the early morning near a park was dart-gunned and relocated by Colorado Parks and Wildlife agents Wednesday.

LONE TREE, CO – A bear stuck in a tree in Lone Tree was knocked out with a sleeper dart, but thoughtful emergency workers held out a blue plastic tarp to "ease the bear's tranquilized fall," the South Metro Fire and Rescue said.

The male bear, about 2-3 years old and 175 lbs., was spotted in an ash tree near Lone Tree Parkway and Lincoln Avenue around 7 a.m. police and South Metro responders said. Colorado Parks and Wildlife agents helped place the sleeping bear into a truck to be taken into a less-densely populated area.
