Youth, Seniors with Dementia Celebrate Unplugged Summer
Residents of Highline Place, an Anthem Memory Care community celebrated the dog days of summer with 8th graders.
With summer in full swing, a group of 8th graders and seniors with dementia took part in a cherished summer tradition. They celebrated the dog days of summer with an old-fashioned picnic in the park at at Highline Place, an Anthem Memory Care community located at 6767 S. Broadway, Littleton.
The 8th graders are participants in the Challenge Foundation, which helps smart, ambitious and hardworking students break the cycle of poverty through educational opportunities. The youth joined the seniors in summertime activities including a lemonade stand, bubbles, frisbees, hula hoops, a picnic lunch and more.
“Many of our residents spent their childhood summers playing outdoor games,” said Jodi Cornman, senior community relations director for Highline Place. “This was a chance for our seniors to show today’s kids how to have an old-fashioned and unplugged summer. We hope new friendships will result from their time together.”
